Dealer Information

Introduction

Broadband (high-speed) Internet access subscribers in the United States increased from 1.9 million in 1999 to 20 million in 2002. Every day, companies turn to the Internet to match the changing business practices of  their suppliers and customers, who are choosing to conduct as much business as possible over the Internet as a way to reduce operating and sales costs. Allowing employees to work from home is becoming increasingly popular and has even been mandated by certain government agencies and many of Americas larger corporations.

With the mass adoption of the Internet, it has become almost impossible for most businesses to operate without email due to the efficiency and convenience it presents, not to mention that customers and suppliers alike demand this type of communication. Businesses are continuing to increase their use of the Internet for e-commerce,  email, a research and reference source for any subject, a travel agent, a stock ticker, an encyclopedia, a worldwide phone book and much, much more.

In the United States alone, the business Internet access market is projected to reach $39.4 billion in revenues by 2004, up from $8.82 billion in 1997, a 24% compound annual growth rate. This tremendous increase in business Internet access is the result of a continuing nationwide landslide of businesses seeking always-on, high-speed Internet connections that can be shared among multiple users in a single office. Savvy owners and managers know that time spent waiting for busy signals, slow logins, and slower file downloads amounts to wasted time & money and increased employee frustration.

Why don't all businesses already have broadband at their locations?

Almost 40% of the businesses who have ordered broadband Internet service have been unable to have the service delivered to them. This is usually because  their company is simply located in the wrong place. DSL service can only be provided to customers within 2-3 miles of the telephone company Central Office (switching center) and not all telephone company Central Offices are equipped for DSL. Cable Internet is only available in those areas where the local cable company has previously installed their Internet-capable transmission facilities, leaving many business customers out of range of cable broadband Internet services.

The cable-Internet and DSL service areas are typically similar in size and shape because they were built with the same business model, that is, the networks were built where there are concentrations of customers so as to maximize their Return On Investment (ROI). Customers in locations outside of these areas of concentration are generally not eligible for these services. Based on the previously mentioned ROI issues, this is not likely to change anytime in the near future and underserved customers are likely to remain so.

There is no hard-sell, as most of your customers will have already tried to buy broadband Internet without success.

How is this an opportunity?

Using proven Hughes VSAT satellite technology with private Hughes gateways, Skycasters quickly delivers high-speed business Internet connections to businesses located anywhere in the United States and other locations. Via satellites in orbit high above the incomplete networks used by earth-bound Internet companies, Skycasters delivers dependable, affordable high speed Internet access to businesses who are not fortunate enough to be located in a DSL or cable Internet service area. These types of customers are plentiful, and grateful to have an alternative to dialup.

As a potential Skycasters Dealer, you may be a consultant or sales person in a high-tech industry, either selling to or assisting your customers on issues related to their networking, computer, communications or Internet services.

Or, you may yourself offer a service that requires a cost-effective broadband connection and wish to expand your marketing to previously unreachable locations.

The bottom line - you are a person who already knows of customers who need our service. Your existing contacts are all that you need to earn additional revenue as a Skycasters Dealer, while at the same time enhancing your existing relationships by providing additional solutions.
