Satellite Internet Installation Coordination provided by Skycasters

Because FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regulations require a certified installer for satellite 2-way Internet service, it is usually not possible for a customer to perform their own installation.

At Skycasters, our preferred installation vendor is a specialized commercial VSAT installation company and one of the most experienced satellite installation companies in the country (with more than 50,000 total VSAT commercial installations).

You can choose your own installer, provided that the installer selected is certified on the VSAT system. On your order form, if you select the option to use your own vendor, you must provide their complete legal name and their Hughes Network Systems Installer ID Number so we can verify their certification.

Installation Details:

The install technician will install the outdoor transmit and receive equipment, dish, and run up to 100 ft. of cable from the outdoor equipment to the indoor equipment, making a professional penetration of the building exterior if necessary.

The technician will install and adjust the dish and outdoor equipment to obtain the best possible satellite connection. The technician will install the DW4020 unit or DW6000 unit, as applicable, and will test and verify the connection to the Internet. Depending on the situation, installation can take between four and eight hours.

Configuration is normally done the day following the physical installation, but may be done on the day of installation when possible. It is highly advisable for the customer to have their representative, who normally maintains the computers or network, to be present at the time of the configuration. This person does not need to be there for the physical installation.

Skycasters installation coordination deparment will work with the customers representative to configure the DW4020 or DW6000 and provide firewall security settings, and to connect one workstation to the customers network. Skycasters will provide information on how to configure the additional workstations. For an extra charge, Skycasters installation coordination department will work with the customers representative to perform the full or custom configuration.

If the customer has ordered service for a SuperVPN, SkySecure or mobile application, certain different procedures will apply.
