Satellite Internet Installation Coordination Provided By Skycasters

Because Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations require a certified installer for satellite 2-way Internet service, it is usually not possible for customers to perform their own installation.

At Skycasters, our preferred installation vendor is a specialized commercial VSATTool Tip installation company called SatAssurance, a network of the most experienced satellite installation companies in the country.

You can choose your own installer, provided he/she is certified on the VSAT system. On your order form, if you select the option to use your own vendor, you must provide their complete legal name and their certification number or credentials so that we can verify their certification.

If your network requirements include multiple installations, you may wish to have one of your employees become certified as a 2-way satellite installer. Skycasters conducts periodic training classes, either at our Akron, Ohio facility or at your location. Your sales engineer can coordinate scheduling training for you or your staff.

Installation Details

The technician will install the outdoor transmit-and-receive equipment, dish, and run up to 100 feet of cable from the outdoor equipment to the indoor equipment, making a professional penetration of the building exterior if necessary.

The technician will install and adjust the dish and outdoor equipment to obtain the best possible satellite connection. The technician will set up the iDirect indoor modem and will test and verify the connection to the Internet. Depending on the situation, this process can take between four and eight hours.

Configuration is normally done the day following the physical installation, but may be done on the same day. We highly advise the customer to have their representative who normally maintains the computers or network be present at the time of the configuration. This person does not need to be there for the physical installation.

Skycasters installation coordination department will work with the customer’s representative to configure the systems, tune QoS priority settings, and provide guidance on configuration and connection with your internal network.
