Satellite Internet Dish Mounting Hardware

Skycasters offers three satellite Internet dish mounting options, the non-penetrating roof mount, the pole mount and what we call the universal mount, a penetrating mount which can be installed on a roof or side-mounted on a wall or chimney. We'll look at each in detail.

The non-penetrating roof mount

This is the most common mount for flat roofs and commercial buildings. This mount does not require any permanent mounting, and may be moved if the customer relocates. A non-penetrating roof mount comes standard with the purchase of a 1.2 meter dish. Additional charge for the .74 and .98 meter non-penetrating roof mount.

The metal frame is assembled, and then concrete blocks are added to weigh the dish down. Eight standard concrete blocks are needed for the .74 meter dish and twelve for the .98 meter dish to give the dish the ability to withstand high winds.

The universal mount can be attached to any solid/stable brick, wood, or concrete wall, so long as there is an unobstructed view of the satellite from the location. The universal mount comes standard with the purchase of a .74 and .98 meter dish.

Pole Mount

(This is a non-standard installation option)
A pole mount is the best choice when there is simply no roof or wall mount space available with the .74 or .98 meter dish. Skycasters highly recommends a pole mount for the 1.2 meter dish or larger when installing these dishes at a residential home. The larger satellite dishes are more likely to cause damage to your house so a pole mount is recommended.

Pole specifications are as follows:

For the .74 or .98 meter dish you will need a 9' long schedule 40 galvanized steel pole with 2 3/8" outside diameter. Pole must be set 3' in the ground with 6' above in at least 350lb. of concrete. The end that is set in the concrete either needs to be cut at a 45 degree angle or have a bolt through the pole to prevent spinning.

For the 1.2 meter dish you will need a 9' long schedule 40 galvanized steel pole with 2 7/8" outside diameter. Pole must be set in at least 3' in the ground with 6' above in at least 350lb. of concrete. The end that is set in the concrete either needs to be cut at a 45 degree angle or have a bolt through the pole to prevent spinning.

Penetrating Roof Mount (Universal Mount)

The penetrating roof mount and the side mount are the same and it is called the universal mount. These come standard with the purchase of a .74 and .98 meter dish. The 1.2 meter dish and larger should be mounted on a pole or non-penetrating roof mount.

A penetrating roof mount would be installed into the truss of the roof. It can be mounted to an asphalt shingled roof, composite shingled, etc. We don't mount into tile roofs, cedar shake roofs, or any fragile roof materials. Basically we can mount the penetrating roof mount to a sturdy roof material that won't destroy the roof.

The Cable

100 feet of cable necessary to connect the Dish to the SNS is provided in all standard installations. Additional lengths of cable may be ordered at extra cost, up to a total length of 200 feet.

Installations are scheduled by Skycasters using only experienced installation technicians.
