ARRA Recovery Sites Prep America for Grant Proposal Requests
Akron, Ohio – April 30, 2009 Like daffodils replacing snow on the hillsides, literally hundreds of “Recovery” web sites have sprung up in the last four months, each with a different angle on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. In addition to sites for virtually every federal, state and local government department or bureau, including the mothership site, Recovery.gov, social media sites representing rural interests like RuMBA, to pundits and bloggers, pro and con, SEOing to snag some eyes.
Scant days after President Obama signed the ARRA bill into law, Skycasters’ President, Mike Kister, launched our own series of pages February 20th, starting with his “open letter,” that details our response. The letter was soon followed by blogs, press releases, and the Skycasters ARRA resource page.
“And now we’ll find out if all that effort to inform, inform, inform will pay off,” Mike Kister said yesterday. “This Tuesday, USDA’s Secretary Tom Vilsack opened the doors to broadband stimulus applications. This first window closes in just over seven weeks, on June 19th. The current amount is just $13.4 million, and will be available to state and local governments, corporations, and Indian tribes. Ready, set – GO!”
And they’re off. Vendors and prospective recipients are beginning to buzz like a nest of Africanized bees. You can get a glimmer of what we’re doing on our resources page: Government, Tribal, and NGOs. Could these be part of our efforts? You betcha. Wherever “remote” intersects “broadband internet” and “customer,” Skycasters is there with an “internet via satellite” solution.
