Akron, OH - February 21, 2011 2011 It’s just about that time of year again when the sun is tanning the backside of the satellites and everyone experiences a short solar outage. Called sun interference or sun fade, this occurs when the sun aligns with the satellite and the receive satellite antenna, and the sun’s radiation simply overpowers all other signals.
The sun outages for our teleports in Akron, OH, and Lake Geneva, WI, will occur between March 2nd and March 7th, as shown here:

If you’re in Northern Canada or Southeastern Alaska, you may experience sun fade as early as Saturday, February 26th. Customers in Panama or the Caribbean may experience sun fade as late as Sunday, March 20th.
