Fall 2011 Sun Outages

Akron, OH – September 20, 2011 — Fall and the autumnal equinox signal for many the coming cold and winter holidays, but for satellite Internet customers, it also means a few minutes of "sun fade" over several days. These sun fade interruptions occur because the sun is directly aligned with the satellite and the receive antenna. The noise and radiation from the sun overpower the signals coming from the satellite creating interruptions.
You will experience two sets of sun interference. The chart shows the sun fades that will occur from our teleports, and the links below will help you determine when the antennas at your location will be affected.
