Teleport Expansion Project, Part V

Maneuvering platform into positionOur teleport expansion project has hit a major milestone, as we have erected our new 8.1m uplink antenna (Antenna 4). This new antenna has significantly higher gain than our existing 6.3m antennas, and will add additional reliability and redundancy to our expanding satellite Internet teleport infrastructure.

Flying High with Skycasters

Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, IP Communications Magazines, publisher of online magazines TMCnet and Internet Telephony, interviewed Skycasters President, Mike Kister for Internet Telephony’s March 2011 issue.

Prayers for Japan

Our hearts and prayers go to the people of Japan who lost relatives, friends and neighbors to the March 11, 2011, Tōhoku earthquake, and the resulting tsunami.  The wall of water that murderously tore peoples’ lives apart, left ongoing devastation in its wake with infrastructure emergencies including crippled nuclear power plants and whole villages laid waste.

And the communications infrastructure.  In January 2010, the Haiti earthquake prompted us to coordinate unique help from above in the form of satellite communications for customers’ disaster response in Haiti.  While we don’t currently provide satellite Internet service in Japan, we’re confident service providers in that area are similarly assisting efforts to restore communications.

At Satellite 2011, in Washington, DC, just days after the Japanese catastrophe, communications experts from around the world were asking about our mobile satellite internet trailer, apparently intent upon helping governments, companies and communities prepare for communications disruptions similar to the earthquake and tsunami aftermath.

We’ll do everything in our power to get satellite Internet equipment and service to the areas of the world that most need to address current and prevent future catastrophes.

Red, White and Blue

I had the opportunity to tour the heart of Washington DC on foot after the show. I observed the green fountains at the White House, heard the pipers regaling the President’s St. Patrick’s Day guests, and continued my walk through the Vietnam War Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the monuments to Lincoln and Jefferson.   Which of course required walking in a big circle around the Washington Memorial.

Did I mention that Skycasters is proud to be American?  We are.

I’m with the Government …

A federal employee approached our booth.  He was from a branch of the government whose offices are in the heart of DC (where admittedly quite a few federal offices are found).  He expressed interest in our product.  And very soon he’ll have competitive access to it.

Currently federal, state and local governmental organizations buy Skycasters products and services at normal retail prices.  However, when Skycasters‘ GSA contract, which is under final negotiations with the federal government, is approved, governments will have the same equipment and services they’ve come to trust, at GSA rates.

Very soon we’ll be able to competitively offer our mobile equipment including the MST, the Nomad, and our fixed systems and service plans — including primary connectivity, disaster response, and continuity of operations to every level of government.

I Want this iNetVu on my SUV

Great.  We sell the C-Com iNetVu 1200 for all sorts of mobile applications. Flyaway, customer vehicle mount, and our MST.

Visit our site to learn about the myriad variations we offer, including other C-Com products.

My BUC — Your Trailer?

Absolutely.  We just sent an MST pdf to a prospect in the Middle East — on condition that we place his partner’s transmitter on the unit.

C-Com already has installed this BUC on the 1.2 meter iNetVu, with which we equip our standard trailer, so we just have to integrate the BUC with our NOC hub systems.

We’ll work with your needs.

How Quickly Can I Get that MST?

Here’s a common question I love.  Partly because it implies an interest to engage with Skycasters now — linking their application (SCADA, VoIP, RoIP, video surveillance etc) using broadband satellite Internet.

But also because it’s a leading question.  Crush is on.  Your signed order today beats the other firm’s signed order tomorrow.  These aren’t burgers. We’ll wind up our production just as fast as you’ll find anywhere in the world.  We’ll order the trailer the moment we order the auto-pointing dish, and the whole unit should be shipped from our facility within five weeks.

Delivery to your door depends on shipping.  Overseas will depend mode — surface or air; and customs.  Your ability to partner through expediting the processes beyond our control makes your acquisition of our Mobile Satellite Trailer that much faster.

How Many Angels …

Actually the Hercules metaphor works best with the Mobile Satellite Trailer. It’s a beast.

Big question:  How do we ship it overseas?

Answer:  In a container.  You can easily get four crated trailers in a single 40 foot container.  And partially disassembled, you may be able to fit more.  So if you’re a customer or dealer in Africa, Australia or Asia, fear not.  They’ll ship quickly and easily.
