Earth Hour: A small step towards saving our planet

Short blog entry for today, but I want to take the opportunity to spread the word about  Earth Hour.  Here’s the deal.  Next Saturday, March 28th, at 8:30 pm local time, turn your lights off.

At my house we’re going to go a bit further – we’re going to turn everything off – and we’re going to encourage our neighbors to do the same.  For one hour, we’re all going to reduce our carbon footprint as much as we possibly can.

Here at Skycasters, we’re keeping the power on for the satellite infrastructure and the NOC, of course – but we’re going to turn off everything else we can.  And I am encouraging all of our employees to do the same.  For everyone who safely can, please consider turning off electricity and other power sources for one hour.

We’re joining Earth Hour in this effort because it’s the right thing to do.  The goal? Get 1 billion people around the world to act in a coordinated manner and “vote” with their light switches.  Over 74 countries and territories pledging to participate in some way is a pretty awesome observance of humanity’s role in conserving the planet we call home.

It’s a small step, yet a powerfully symbolic one.  Please consider joining us.
