Prayers for Japan

Our hearts and prayers go to the people of Japan who lost relatives, friends and neighbors to the March 11, 2011, Tōhoku earthquake, and the resulting tsunami.  The wall of water that murderously tore peoples’ lives apart, left ongoing devastation in its wake with infrastructure emergencies including crippled nuclear power plants and whole villages laid waste.

And the communications infrastructure.  In January 2010, the Haiti earthquake prompted us to coordinate unique help from above in the form of satellite communications for customers’ disaster response in Haiti.  While we don’t currently provide satellite Internet service in Japan, we’re confident service providers in that area are similarly assisting efforts to restore communications.

At Satellite 2011, in Washington, DC, just days after the Japanese catastrophe, communications experts from around the world were asking about our mobile satellite internet trailer, apparently intent upon helping governments, companies and communities prepare for communications disruptions similar to the earthquake and tsunami aftermath.

We’ll do everything in our power to get satellite Internet equipment and service to the areas of the world that most need to address current and prevent future catastrophes.
